Christmas is coming

Im finally getting the Christmas decorations up. This has been a very busy winter so far with the addition of 2 new grandkids and our 40th anniversary, my birthday and an extended family Christmas get together next weekend I have been busier than ever and loving every second.
The tree is up and the mantle is done
The mantle is filled with my collection of vintage music boxes and my waterglobe train.
The framed certificate on the mantle was from our 4 kids, spouses and grandkids.
They all signed the matting congratulating us on 40 yrs
.
The Nativity takes centre stage in the dining room
The bakers rack is prettied up
The hutch in the kitchen may change . Not sure yet.
Vintage ornaments on the dining table.
And my little wagon filled with vintage toys under the tree
Top of the China cabinet
I have had the doll on Santas knee since I was young and the Daddy bear reading The night before Christmas was an Avon purchase a while back. He actually tells the whole story.
Ready for Santa

These two are on the buffet in the entry awaiting guests.
So pop on over,  the kettles on and the cookies are in the oven.
Have a great day.....Linda

Happy Thanksgiving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my American friends.   With Christmas just around the corner it is easy to get caught up in all the Chaos.
I wish for all to relax and reflect on this time and enjoy our friends and family.
May your homes be filled with laughter and the delightful aromas wafting from the kitchen.
Lets also take time to remember those less fortunate and be Thankful for our many blessings great or small
Enjoy your Day.....Linda

A little sprucing up

First off ...My thoughts and prayers go out for everyone in the path of Sandy. This storm has caused so much devastation. We live in a small town on the outskirts of Toronto On. Canada. We were without power most of last night but it was restored early this morning. My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes or suffered major damages.

On a lighter note Hubby and I have been busy sprucing up our entry and dining areas. We have had the hutch in the entry way for many years. Sorry I didnt get a before shot but it was a dark walnut stain and the finish had seen better days.
I purchased a Tomatoe red  oops paint at Home depot and Hubby had the first coat on when I woke up on Saturday morning. I cant stress how much I love it.

The gallery wall was a project from last year but I will be tweaking it in the near future with the addition of 2 new grandkids.
We also did some painting in the dining room. These pieces were unfinished pine. The table we purchased at an antique sale last year and I decided to leave the tabletop as is and paint the legs.
The corner hutch was an anniversary gift from the hubs many years ago.
The narrow little side table was also an antique sale score and had the hand painted roses on the apron.

I love how they look now and give the room a nice updated look.
The dining area is a work in progress and is actually an extension of our very small galley kitchen so one end of it is used to house a self standing pantry and my baking centre.

When I finish that end I will show you my completed room.
Please excuse the dishes on the table as I am working on the other end of the room  and moving things around .
Hope you are having an awesome week. Stay safe....LINDA

Welcome to my journey

Hi and welcome to my very first post. It is my hope that you will join me in my quest to beautify our world one project at a time. I love to explore various crafting techniques and recreating thrift store and found items at minimal cost into treasures for my home or gifts. Below are some items I have created lately with different mediums.

  •  Felt and tulle roses

  •  Cricut and papercrafting

  •  Dollar store box altered into " Miladys Button Box"

  •  Hand dyed paper flowers

  •  Loom Knitting

  •  Crackle Painted Box with Napkin Decoupage
I hope you will follow along and find some inspiration in my endeavours.I will post tutorials from time to time and would really appreciate your comments good or bad.  Thanks so much......Linda
